Attached are some updated photes. The car was finished last summer, and I've driven it from Canada to LA, and up-n-down from Lake Tahoe. It's running great. Plenty of power when needed, and I can go about 260 miles on a tank of gas. I finished the hardtop in time for winter, and it was certainly handy to have.
It's been to a few car shows, and took second place twice. Not bad for a car which wasn't supposed to be a show vehicle. The only items left are minor details like installing a radio, working on a minor flatspot near 3000rpm, and making a nice way to store jack and tools in the trunk.
