I expect to take at least a little flak for this, but here is a fun shot of my mate's Z31 wheels on my MGB rear axle. Just trying to get an idea of how much tire I can fit and his wheels were handy, so don't take this too seriously...

Wheels are 17x9 wearing 245/40/R17

Clearance to the bump stops is tight but they bolt up and spin freely, so they might actually work with a little different offset, better axle location, and fit under some relatively moderate flares.

Good looking wheels actually.

I thought I would hate them on the MG but I was surprised when I didn't.

I think they look more at home on my mate's Nissan

I tried his rear wheels which are 275s yesterday and they almost fit as is, and would fit pretty easily with mild flares and a little different offset (or a little wider rear track from an 8.8)

Doesn't the diameter of the 275's make the back of the sit a bit high?

Nukem

I think the 275s were 275/35, so about an inch larger in diameter than the stock wheels and about the same as the 245's. Should be manageable but a little taller than ideal.

25.6" is more like an inch & a half taller. Plus, heavier.

Hankook makes a very economical 245/40R15 that I have been eyeing, but my impression was that it might be too short.

On another note, I picked up some seats from a Porsche 914 last weekend. Super light and fit easily:

I'm really glad I just read these 2 pages about not slamming that engine to the firewall.  I wasn't real excited about that anyway.   Thanks guys

"I'm also considering changing up the steering shaft flange location at the firewall similar to in Dan Masters' car.

Terry Schulte's car caught my eye: [www.britishv8.org]

His modifications to the steering are about what I had in mind."

May not be as obvious to some.  Both cars were built at Ted Lathrop' shop, Fast Cars, Inc.

Dan Master's car.

I'd suggest in the process of changing the lower column attachment to the firewall that you consider doing an EPS at the same time. There's a thread on it in this forum.
