Curtis, ck with Larry, I think this is a local and friend of Larry B.

lars49

That was Chuck Hassler's MGC.  He is a colleague of our LBC group.

Alright, we are litterally at the exit where we were meeting my wife and other son for dinner and looks like I pulled a Curtis!

Oh, and Rick, if you miss too many events you may lose that man of the year to the next generation...

Snow on Pikes Peak - 7/27/14.

Timing is everything!

Yikes! Yes, timing is everything. I must say, the weather for the meet was great.
Here's a few photos from our trip.

We happened upon Route 66 in Missouri:

After the meet, Katie and I spent two days exploring Colorado. We went to the far SW. corner.

Crossed Cottonwood pass outside Buena Vista, 12,126 ft.

IMG_4682.JPG

The pass gave me 11 miles of "gravel road", not so bad.

Lots of wildlife:

I made a pilgrimage to Telluride. First time returning there after attending the 1982 Airman's Rendezvous:

On our last day, we visited Mesa Verde National Park. Cool stuff:

Travelling north from Durango is the Million Dollar Highway.

There seems to be a shortage of highway guard rails in the state of Colorado!

We camped 6 nights:

Ah, a Hang Glider Pilot, as well?  Your Bucket List must be well covered.  :)

They would prevent the snowplows from pushing the stuff off the road.

The million dollar highway gets about 200 inches (5.08 m) of snow per year

Can you imagine working as a snow plow operator, plowing those roads in a snow storm, so close to the edge......
Makes my knees weak.

MGBV8

Can you imagine being a passenger looking over the edge? Not me!  :)

I drove it in the early '90s with my parents.  My mother was in the backseat with a pillow over her head.

CDOT has lost 3 snowplow drivers.  The Durango Herald Highway to Hell article has more information.

Hey! I'm looking for a nice photo of James Spradlin's red 1979 MGB V6 taken during our meet. James had to leave early, and I failed to get a good photo of his car before he left. (He was with us through Monday, right?) My photos of James' MGB feature too many other cars or have too many pedestrians in the frame.  For a "Cars of BritishV8 2014" overview article, I'd prefer a photo that simply shows off James' car. Please help.

Not at meet but somewhat current.

My wife plows snow on the hills around here (up to BlackHawk).  It is easier to plow up there than it is in the flat lands where the road vanishes before your eyes.  Had several drivers that had to be dug out 1 mile off the road in some farmer's field.  Fence slowed them down.  lol

Great pics everyone.  Hope to make it next year.  Indy should be a blast.

After getting home from Colorado, (4,600 miles/7,400 Km's) I went ahead and did an oil change. While under the car, I was going through my usual routine of lubing the drive shaft yokes and discovered this:

Not a single needle left:

I was lucky it got me home.

That's nasty. I'm surprised you couldn't hear it.

I did notice a slight vibration through the seat/shifter. I was going to swap wheels front to back to try and narrow it down.
I think the grease passage way must have been blocked to that cup. I just never noticed the other three cups were hogging all the lube.

Charles

After 4600 miles they wouldn't have felt a pin cusion if they had sat on it. I am glad you guys did make it home OK.
Riding home with your car on a rool back will erase a lot of good times.
