I can check with Tim Stoddard and see if we can get any preferential parking for the Roadmaster at the Mitty.

Great idea, Rick!  Bill, the TR7 shift knob come from Edith's TR7.  We found it in the trunk or glove box or something.  Roadmaster needed one, seo I stuck it on there.  The main reason I mentioned the Triumph stuff is that is the featured marque at the Mitty this year since it is the 60th anniversary of the TR.  Kas Kastner is scheduled to be there.

OK...the e-mail has been sent along with some pictures of the Roadmaster. The "Ways & Means Committee" along with Curtis was copied on this e-mail.

Great, maybe Curtis can sell the shifter knob!  It'll be in the glove box.  ;)

(my preferred motel)

QuoteAre you going to drive the car to an from the hotel, or bum rides?
Assuming it's like most other racetracks, my preference is to bum some floor space in an empty car trailer. Jerry lives near Road Atlanta. If he goes home to sleep in a real bed each night, he might be happy to have someone doing guard duty at his trailer.  Back in the day, my college buddies and I used to tent-camp in the infield at Road Atlanta. The paddock will be more convenient to toilets, showers, and especially racecars - not to mention free beers. (I'll save a bunch of money and commuting time too!)

You guys should ALL come to this race. It's going to be a GREAT weekend!

This in from Tim Suddard of Grassroots Motorsports/Clasicmotorsports magazines (and the Mitty):

"Rick,

Once you get registered for the event, I am sure we can get you a good spot, front and center at the MG car corral, that will be located right near our big tent, which is the center of everything, at the Classic Motorsports Mitty. Please come early. This is going to be huge! Thanks for your help.

And in from Andy of Classic Motorsports:

"Hey Rick, the car is awesome! It looks like it can eat any Bugeye that gets in its way. Also all the Mitty info is at themitty.com

We also have a message board at Classic Motorsports where I have started to post additional Mitty information. Please feel free to chime in about the car and post a picture of it.

The message board direct link is:

You need to register on the site to post but it is free and takes only a minute. I know people would love to see pictures and learn more about the car.

Can't wait to see it in person.

Andy"

Took my car to Cars & Coffee this morning - probably 60 Lambos & Ferrari's, as many Porches, Corvettes, & a couple hundred other cars... and I had 3-4 people huddled around my car the entire morning.  One guy that was looking chatted for a while - he was interested in doing a swap himself so I gave him the board's URL.  His name was Les so be on the lookout for a new member here.  Anyway, reason for posting is it will be a great venue to show off the Roadmaster.  There are Cars & Coffee gatherings in lots of cities so for those who'll have the Roadmaster, check to see if you have one near you too.

Looks like the nearest Cars & Coffee for us would be Charlotte, NC.

Thanks Rob. I found one in Cincinnati on Kellogg Ave. I'll check it out soon as it's warmer.

The Roadmaster is now registered for the NSRA Southern Nationals here in Knoxville, TN, May 4 - 6. My car is also registered. If you're in the area, come by and check us out. In addition to these two cars, there will be around 3500 other fun cars to ogle, along with a couple hundred vendors.

This time of year is soooo great!

Make sure you get some good pics Dan.

Bill Young

That's going to be great exposure for the Roadmaster Dan, thanks for hosting it there. I ordered tools for the lug nuts and had them shipped directly to Carl, might have them already, but one item was on backorder so it may be delayed. Still need a couple of small tool bags for the car and I forgot to order those at the time. I'll get those on order or buy them locally and bring them down to Palestine with me.

Rick's been posting photos on facebook and the MGE and has everyone excited. What we need now is a bunch of good video to share with the masses who can't get over to see and hear the car. Let's get those cameras busy guys on some of these trips to the various shows and events.

rficalora

Do we have a Roadmaster facebook page or is he posting to his personal page?

Bill Young

Rob, I don't know. He's a friend so his posts show up on my news page so I think he's posting on his personal page. I don't remember ever friending a Roadmaster page.

mowog1

I've been posting to my personal page as well as to the Loyal and Ancient Order of the Sacred Octagon.

I can start a Roadmaster page if you wish.

Oh good.   Stuffed animals and kitty cats befriend the BADASS.  :-p

It's a CAR---  it's not a corporation.  It shouldn't have RIGHTS, priveleges.   (Wait a minute....)

:-p

Actually Max....BADASS is incorporated as a Not-For-Profit entity.

OK, I am a little late to this thread but wanted to chime in on some potential events in Colorado.  I have not read all the posts on this thread so I have no idea of where the schedule is with the Roadmaster.
In Colorado, the first Saturday of the month during warm weather, Golden, Colorado (home of Coors), hosts a car show. There are hundreds of cars, all cruising, parking, etc.  There is just about anything at the show.  This would be a great venue for the Roadmaster.  The Good Guys show is in June, I think, and is in Loveland, Colorado.  This one is high end hot rods and customs (I am sure you guys have been to a Good Guys show).
In June, there is the Glenwood Rallye, this is the longest annual runninng rallye in America, in Glenwood Spirings, Colorado (home of the largest outdoor hot spring pool).  This June is the 60th year of the run.
There are numerous shows all over the Denver metro area during the summer as well. I think there shoud be some exposure of the Roadmaster out west!

Brad, I agree it would be great to get the car out that way. The plan currently in effect is to pass the car among the various supporters and contributors to the project so that each one can get a chance to enjoy the fruits of their labor so to speak. Currently the only charter member we have in your area is Curtis Jacobson in Longmont and I'm hoping that he and I can get together this summer to pass the car to him for a while. As it stands now when the Hot Rod Power Tour is complete the car will be in Texas and no plans in effect at this time on where it will go from there. I'll be talking to people in the area to see if we can arrange a relay to get the car up to at least Wichita, Kansas where I can pick it up and move it on from there to the next point. That should be around the end of June or early in July. Send me a list of the events you think would be good and the dates and we'll see if we can work something out to get the car there.

Hey guys, we need events and volunteers for the rest of the summer, time to speak up. Mike Maloney has already said that he has an event in Ohio in late August that he'd like to take the car to, need some more between Kansas and Ohio to make a smooth transition.

denvermgb

Bill,

I did make a $25 contribution, as well as some parts to the BADASS project but that has been a few years ago - I think I also particpated in the discussion of the BADASS designation/naming.  It's my fault that I have been more of a participant on the MGE forum instaed of this one.  I am seeing that BritV8 is more in-line with what I am doing with my car.

I can PM you will the official events/times/dates/places of shows and events in Colorado, but I am sure Curtis is on top of Colorado stuff.

Brad

Bill Young

Brad, your contributions haven't gone unnoticed I can assure you. We'll try to get the car out your way this summer, but it all depends on timing as most of us are still working and have limited vacation time to drive the car across the state or such. I'm already scheduleding more vacation time than I'll earn before I retire so I'll pay for that in my final pay check, and I don't retire until August 1st, so would be too late to get the car to you and still back east to Mike, need someone else to help if we can find them. Rob can get the car back to Dallas from Houston but from there it's uncertain. How do we get the car from Dallas to Colorado? We have to figure something out pretty soon. I hope that we can resolve that issue and others at the V8 meet next month in Palestine.

denvermgb

I would be happy to fly to Dallas and drive the Roadmaster to Denver.  I would need at least a couple weeks notice to set up my reservation and make arragements.  Congrats on your retirement!
