Doesn't this bellhousing detail indicate that it's a 215 (aluminum) block that's been painted?

Yep, the pic doesn't seem to match the text. Sure would like to find some more info it, though.

I believe that the blower is an earlier Magnuson unit. Perhaps Jim B will chime in and know for sure.

No, the text says it is a 215 block with mods:

"...has a 300 cu.in. (reconfigured from 215 cu.in.) 1961-63 Buick V8..."

Actually, the text does not say it is a 215 block.  It does say it is a cast iron block with aluminum heads. I read that to mean not a 215, very likely a 300. Maybe the pic is the former 215 setup.

Well, I read the "reconfigured from a 215" to mean that it's a 215 that's been bored/stroked.  I attributed the cast iron block comment to ignorance, but perhaps that's assuming too much.

The ears on the bellhousing identify it as the BOPR pattern, so 215 or Rover. Nothing else uses that pattern that I've ever heard of. There were some rumors of cast iron prototype 215 blocks built into test engines in the 50's but it seems highly likely those would have been destroyed rather than ever making it outside of corporate control.

I've never seen a reporter yet that got his facts straight. Whoever wrote that article talked to the owner, asked a few questions, screwed up the answers, and then posted that nonsense. No need to be looking for answers in the article, it's just pure BS.

I think Dan has solved it.  

I have not been able to find any more info on that TD.

Late again, but that blower is for a Ford due to the front dizzy clearance problem., It has an offset imput shaft . Looks good on a Buick too.
