Hi all, I should have signed up a long time ago.....for many reasons but my TR6 is done and ready for the road this spring.  I recently been thinking that I should have looked closer at an engine swap at the beginning of this build but now the car is all done and not sure it's worth going backwards.  I have read about a few swaps that don't require any major cutting or steering changes one in particular is the BMW M50.  Is there anyone doing this swap that can provide specific build details?

Glad to see you postin, welcome aboard. A TR6 in stock form is a darn nice car, glad your's is ready to go. As far as a upgrade to the drivetrain go's I plan to see how a Nissan RB25 DE and 5 speed  works out. I don't want to make a bunch of changes to handle big HP so I went with the N/A engine plus I know the turbo on this TR6 got in the way of the steering.

Take a look at Dale's 2.3L Ford conversion....there are quite a few of these engine in TRs and MGs.

Thanks all,  Well it looks like I will go the BMW route, I purchase an M52/2.8 and 5 speed.  The engine is not the S version that provides bigger HP but is almost idetical in shape and layout.  This engine is just shy of 200 hp in stock form but I am told that with a reflash and the delete of much of the swog equip  and some afordable upgrades it's possible to see it closer to 225hp.  I am not bulding a track car I just wanted more power and a five speed and to get that in stock form is very expensive.

I am looking for any information on the red BMW swap that was in the forum or anyone else that is thinking or doing the same swap.  The red one I think is sold and not sure he is posting anymore but if any one knows how to contact him let me know.  This will be an interesting swap for me as I know zero about BMW engines.

Dennis you have made an excellent choice!!  Now the fun begins That 69 TR6 will soon be saying achtung with a British accent.
Make sure to post lots of pictures and don't be afraid to ask lots of questions.
