Saw this great Historic Race Car car at the NEC International Motorsport Show, just goes to show you that a car can never be to old to beat the more modern race machines such as the Radicals.
Its a Turner Sports Car built in the UK in the 1960s,many of them went on to compete at all kinds of race events, winning on a regular basis.
This car VUD 701 once belonged to the well known racing driver John Miles who was a consistant winner in numerous races, winning the Autosport Veedol Championship outright in 1963/4.
Serious modifications have been done to make it one of the fastest Modsports cars in the World, the present owner/driver Chris Fulke Greville intends to race it in the HMSA events Historic Modsports and Saloon Association

So very cool.  I'd really like to see this car in person.  Thanks for posting!

My pleasure Curtis,nice car eh.
Althou this race car has been put up for sale the owner Chris Fulke Greville is competing during 2010 at various race and speed events around the UK,so we should all get to see it in action as well as at many motorshows.
I was looking at the specification and although it hasnt got one of our mighty V8s sitting in it,it performs really well with the little British 4 Pot Ford engine.I thought I was going well up front until he passed me.
I wonder if any of our members would like to race with this sort of car, have a look at the HMSA Historic Modsports and Saloon Association, they are allowing us to use race tyres instead of moulded treaded tyres.

Turners can be devilishly quick.  I got my first real good look at one the other weekend, and posted photos here:

It's certainly not so radical as the Miles/Fulke car, but its got some tricky details going on:

1971 MGB GT V8
Buick 215 w/ Rover heads, custom EFI & crank-fired ignition.
Custom front and rear coilover suspensions.

I see the Legendary Chris Fulke-Greville(sic) has now Infected BritV8.

Best Google Chris Fulke-Greville chaps - unsavoury to say the least.

BlownMGB-V8

Apparently he is one of those fellows who attract controversy. Looks ugly on both sides.
