What kind of bobweight you would have to get down to to internally balance a 3.4 stroke rover with a 3.7"-ish bore.. anyone?
Can this be done with steel rod and no mallory metal?

I would like to use an offset ground 4.6 crank. narrowed SBC rods, BHJ internal balance dampener and redrilled stock 215 flexplate

Tony, I'd measure stock stuff first.305 sbc.forged piston/pin around 440 grams.6" , 4340 rod approx 550 grams, narrowed for sbb rover jrnl. Isn't 4.6L crank internal? Might be a better way, easier f-wheel,1 pc. rear seal, ready for crank driven oil pump and better fillet potential with off-set grind. If you shop around for generic, "tungsten" ,might be less than Mallory. Is the BHJ made for sbb/rover? I use the Fluid Damper for sbc,(mod).How much hp. you gonna feed that 215 flxplt.? I'm thinkin a Rover to be stronger. What auto? roverman.

Im gonna be using a GM 200R4 auto trans.. So I have to use an adapter plate which I already have from KEP.. The British guys use the Stock 215 flexplate (redrilled) because the Rover plate is a 3 piece lump!
The BHJ dampener is for a Buick V-6.. its the same one D&D sells for the 215. If I ever get this thing together in my lifetime it most likely wont be over 375 horse.

Ok, Isn't the V6 dampener, external? I have,"early" Rover, flexplates that are 1 pc. solid w/o.,"wind sock", cut-outs(215 BU.). I like the external-solid design of Fluid Damper, to drive my 6V-71 blower. roverman.

Art.. They are the encapsulated elastomer type , Billet Steel Construction .... SFI 18.1 Certified...

Yeah. Nic.. The Rover dampener has got some kind of V-belt pulley behind it though.. Might be useful to some.But I didnt think Id use it..

T/A also brands them as their own... But they are made by BHJ..

Nic.. Mallory metal isn t" Bad" per say.. Its just another expense Id rather avoid.
I would like to internal balance my engine.. whenever I get around to that...

Art: Nah, it's external. Makes more work putting a good harmonic damper on it too, not only do I have to cut down a big chunk of steel to make an adapter, it'll have to be milled for balance.

Jim and clan, Tunsten "might" be cheeper than Mallory metal. They are similar in weight.
