Hey Art, I bet you could take some weight out of that roller cam and make the engine a little lighter. Wonder how much trouble it'd be to run a hole down the middle of it? Come to think of it, with your Rotus heads you might save a whole lot of weight that way.

They're Ford 4.6 sleeves. Just to pitch a guess in here. Regardless of what Mike is doing, are the 4.6 sleeves flanged? The length has got to be right. Maybe a less pricey option than importing from UK.

4.6 flanged liners wouldn't happen anyway because they're 3.7" at their largest... Maybe LS sleeves would work? I'm having trouble finding them for sale anywhere.

LS 6.0 has 4" bore. Darton?

Cuz it's fun to work through the problems. I think it also helps solve some potential issues and expands our potential for creative solutions.

4.8-5.3 LS bore is 3.78. Those sleeves are common and would leave a little more meat in the block.

Yeah. Thanks man. I was wondering about something a bit simpler but I did find something on the Darton website. Are they all MID liners there? I'm pretty sure that's an upgrade. The ones listed for the LS seem pretty thick. I guess that would be better for wet liners anyway.

On the MID liners: I really dig the coolent passages through the Siamese and the deck. The coolent at the deck has got to help the head gasket cooling a lot. Those are cool.

Darton also lists a long 3.7" liner that would work great for the monster stroke 350 Rover:
T-3750     3.700(bore)     3.975(OD)     0.138(thickness)    6.100(length)    0.650(flange)     4.250(flange dia.)

6.1" length is an extra 3/4" longer. Good news there.

Mike, while you were in the process of boring out the block how much aluminum did you find behind the liners?

You could probably order LS sleeves from Chevy.

 I just though the MID stuff was interesting in comparison to what Mike is doing.. I looked into their stuff before I ordered the Westwood sleeves.. Darton was about 25-30 more per sleeve but was a true custom order..

I'll contact Darton about the "Blanks" I listed above that I found on their site. See how much they go for. They don't look custom order on the site... I'll find out. If they are less than $600 it may be worth looking at...

Hmmm, a 4" bore combined with the stroke of a 4.2 Rover would net a Rover version of a 302 Chevy Z28 (or real close).  That would be right up my alley!

Im trying to deal with inner conflict. On one hand I have let some information out since this seems to be the place of roverperimentation (I will trade mark or copyright the term) and well then there is the fact that the machinest is keeping his information locked up. I hope the engine holds up and he has ordered some real nice composite head gaskets with o-rings so some where either the head side or the top of the block/liner will need a grove......or both! Im dying to see and hear this thing run and the dyno......should be impressive. I know the heads on the first will be nothing special but heads are easy compared to making the block with radical liners work. As soon as I know something and I get permission from the President/CIA/Homeland Security and FBI I will let you in on it. Be prepared to read between the "blacked out" words. By the way Christmas was a steering wheel for my TR8, no engine or updates, sorry.
