Man. I wish I'd been there!

Guys, this is a run you should go to a lot of trouble to make. The route they ran hit some of my all time favorite roads anywhere, and you can include the Dragon in that lineup. Up Gauley Mountain to Hawk's nest is without a doubt one of the best roads suited for high powered sports cars that you will find anywhere. 2 and 3 lanes of a major pre-Interstate national highway going through some of the tightest kiss your ass turns a semi could possibly negotiate, I learned to drive drifting from one curve to the next down that mountain. Over the hill and into Fayetteville for lunch just continues the fun, and back out Rt. 16 is a great mountain road with a built in slalom course. Overall that loop is an incredible driving experience, and when you have time to look at the scenery it just gets better.

The WVBCC has made this an annual event and is very likely to repeat in the fall. Once Dan has put it on the schedule, believe me, you do not want to miss it. I fully expect to be there at the next run, and with my roadster. It stirs the blood just thinking about it!

I could hear the grin over the phone. That is a perfect road for the MG-Roadmaster and I can't help but envy Dan just a little getting to toy with the field in that car the way he undoubtedly did yesterday. You see, I know that road. I know just how he took the corners, and I know just where he nearly broke the rear end loose going up the hill because it's just about the way I'd have done it, and above all else it is just an incredibly FUN road to drive! Without a doubt one of the best anywhere.

I'll try to drive up for your next club event on those roads, sounds too good to miss.  In my younger years I did a few rafting trip on the Gauley in Sept.
Dan glad you had a fun drive!

PJ, in my younger years I guided those rafting trips. Who knows, we may easily have been on the river together.

Jim

probably did if you guided for ACE

Are there any plans for RM once the repairs are completed?

BlownMGB-V8

October 16-19 is the Buick GS Nationals in Bowling Green, KY. We should try to make it there if we can.

RM would be a big hit at the Conch Republic independence day parade on Duval St in Key west

Key West British Car Club held it's annual club meeting on April
22 at the Admiral's house.  After reports on membership and finances
officers were elected for the next year.  Those elected were:
Admiral --  Fred Skomp
Vice Admiral --  Brian Hoffman
Chancellor of the Exchequer -- Cindy Skomp
Scribe --  Tommie Camblin
The club is pleased to have Brian on the team as he has a house in
the Keys and will be able to closely coordinate the club activities
with the Admiral. Information on future events will be distributed
when appropriate.

Concerted efforts need to be made .in 2014 to get the car to Kansas City...then on to Colorado for the V8 meet....then out to the Left Coast...

BlownMGB-V8

That'd be fine, but first we need to work on it some. It needs spacers under the rear subframe bushings, the new steering column needs installed, the gages need sorted out, and I think there's a list if small items that need to be taken car of such as the driver's door lock and the window adjustments. Some of you guys need to get together on when would be a good time to do that stuff.

Jim

How about a work weekend after Christmas?

BlownMGB-V8

That can work, just about whenever you guys can get together. Just let me know when.

This year's Hot Rod Power Tour starts in Charlotte, goes to Knoxville, then Charleston WV, Norwalk, Ohio, Crown Point, Indiana, Bettendorf, Iowa and ends up at the Wisconsin Dells.  That looks to me like British V8 country!

I'm only 90 miles from CLT, be thrilled to participate in the tour

Also re getting RM to CO I might be able to drive it west and fly home.  Anyone out there want to host RM.

If I am able to attend Bill Young's service, would it be a good time to drive RM out to KS?

BlownMGB-V8

Depends on when the service is, and how long it take to tune the timing map. I expect all afternoon today to be needed for sorting out the wiring.

Jim

Bill's service is scheduled to be sometime in April. Jenny has yet to name a date.

BlownMGB-V8

Oh well, we should be able to manage that.

Jim

I will save the date in May to shuttle RM from KY to MO if you guys want me to .
I plan to fly out to the event if someone else wants to drive RM.
As someone else said, Carl I think, it's only fitting that RM should be present for the memorial service.
Jus tlet me know if I should plan to drive or fly.

MGBV8

Not sure if I said it out loud, but I sure was thinking it would be an awesome tribute & sendoff.

The memorial service has been scheduled for May 17th.

Are there any members/contributors who might like to host RM in GA or FL before mid May when the car needs to be in MO?

Im thinking about attending the Key West event April 22, 2014 and could drive RM one way.  This is just a suggestion not intended to offend anyone.
