Not to start a wizzing contest, but to list performace attained by our builds compared to say original road test ? 1/8 to 1/4 mile drags, 60' times, lateral accelleration/decelleration G's, slalom speeds and road course times would be a helpfull, for what's attainable. Thanks, roverman.

MGBV8

Lateral Gs? Mine's waaaay better than stock.  ;)

My question would be: what are the original specs for the various models? Where would you source that info? John

Some of these specs - lateral g's in particular - depend so much on tire technology, tire condition, road surface, etc.  Engine performance varies quite a bit with temperature.

I don't know where you'd find a library of vintage road tests... except for the MGB GT V8 model! Frankly, I think I nailed that need pretty well with this:  http://www.britishv8.org/MG-factory-MGB-GT-V8-model.htm
1971 MGB GT V8
Buick 215 w/ Rover heads, custom EFI & crank-fired ignition.
Custom front and rear coilover suspensions.

I have a model specific book that list all the specs and road tests from prominant magazines, of the time and through 1991. Things like f/r weight distribution, 49/51% etc/etc. Cheers, roverman.

Art, this could start by a short list of the stock performance of a limited amount of vehicles such as the MG, MGB, MGBV8,TR-4,TR-6, Sunbeam Tiger, etc. Maybe just list the best times of one particular brand so it doesn't get too big. That way there is at least a baseline of comparison. The front/rear weight numbers would also be of value, since most think the V8 throws this way off. Maybe a 300' skid pad test would be interesting. John

Faster than the MGB V8 GT ? John and clan, I'll submit what I have from a Jensen Healey(Brooklands Publications), road test and specifications book, ie. 1/4 mi. best 15.9 @ 87 mph. 0-60 = 7.5 sec. lateral accelleration .78g., max speed 100' r.= 34.10 mph. Perhaps "Curtis" can help with which criteria ?  Cheers, roverman.
