I'm just going to go ahead and say it... this MGB is one of my personal favorites.

(Columbus NM is ~40mi due west of El Paso, and only ~3mi from the Mexican border)

I agree Curtis and Steve was a "Good Guy" also. Glad to have him in Indy, Hope to see again at another meet. Welcome Steve!

Saw this one a few days ago while looking at updates. I like your build
Steve because its not a high end build and it's built to your specs.
Same concept I'm using on rebuilding my GT right now. Of course
Curtis is my hero though when it comes to owner designs! No pun
intended Curtis, your car inspired me to get back to work on mine.

Just Curious, if he is from New Mexico, why does he have Ohio historical plates?

I understand that Steve used to live in Ohio and still has some interests there. I believe he actually went to Ohio on this trip then came back to Indy.

He did live in Granville Ohio for several years. Before going to Indy he drove from New Mexico to Granville to visit friends. I live about five miles from Granville and he drove over to my place and visited for a couple of hours a few days before he headed off to Indy.
I don't recall how he obtained Ohio historical tags but in Ohio one of the rules for driving around with historical plates is you can drive the car when you are going to and from a car show, so he was legal driving from New Mexico to Ohio to Indy and back.
