MG gas tank fuel pump going to after market high pressure fuel pump going to 3.4 injected motor.  The high pressure fuel pump makes an exceptionally loud, whining noise.  Replaced once but still whining.  Any ideas appreciated.  Have considered aquiring a camaro gas tank w/ fuel pump & cutting out the section of the tank w/ pump attached & welding it into a new MG gas tank.  Ideas?  Suggestions?

I found the same thing when I used an external pump, I was never satisfied with it. I replaced it with a VW Jetta in tank pump and have been very satisfied since. You can see what I did here:

Dan, it may be the variety of pump you are using. I've used both the Ford truck frame mounted pump and the GM equivalent and neither seemed particularly noisy. But if that's not it perhaps the in-tank solution is the way to go.

Todds gas tank is the ticket. Hardly any noise from the pump and you get the added gallons.
The tank comes ready to install, fuel pump in place, sender conections etc.

  I have been very happy with the 1989 -1990 ford truck fuel pump. they are available for about 90.00, I originaly used a bosh but it was inpossible to get fittings for, I use that ford pump for my 3.4 motor and the same one for my LT1 and both seem quite and effective, although I did insulate the rear shelf of the MGB, which would quite the pump (and everything else)

I have used an external pump from a Volvo Turbo 240, an older car. From a salvage car, it is mounted on a plate and plumbed to a large filter, making an easy install on the battery box.

It is more than enough for a Rover 4.0 fuel injected, and very on, before the engine starts.quiet. You only hear it when you turn the ignition
