Why? Honestly I'm not sure. Someone suggested it'd get the handbrake lever out of the way, someone else suggested it'd be too slow to allow e-brake turns. Having a reverse pawl myself I'm Inclined to agree with that. Can't really see it being any lighter either.

So far, the e-brake actuators that I've seen are too long to physically fit very comfortably under the body of the MGB. Anybody know of one that might?

There is a Toyota Prius in the local pick-n-pull, but I can't find anything online about what it uses. I may be going back out there in another week or two and thought I might have a look, if I can figure out what exactly to look for. Guess I could track the cables back from the wheels though. Still not even sure it's a good idea but willing to consider it.

A 12 volt linear actuator would work Jim.
It wouldn't need very much travel and only 300 or so lbs. of pull.
So it could be quite compact.
An auto reset breaker could be used for an inexpensive limit control.
So it's doable and cheap.
Other than the "OMG look what I've got" thing, I don't see the advantage either.
Having said that I have looked at putting one into the TGB because, OMG look what I've got.

My concern would be during a EMI event, I would lose all control,(currently hanging-on, by a thread)......
