Help identifying a Jap rear axle?

The live rear end I pulled out of my GT6 is from some sort of Japanese car.
I'm thinking of using it as a core when I go to get my Merkur IRS from P&P.
But since it has a posi in it there may be some possibility that the posi is more valuable than the core charge.

Very few markings on it, it does use a ten bolt diff cover in an oval pattern.
Not sure how well parts interchange among the brands.

What should I look for to identify what I have?

Richard, Need a picture but, Toyota 2WD 7.5 has rear cover and so does Nissan R200 used in 2WD pickups. Most import car axles I've seen were drop out banjo type.

Got some pics.

Found a couple of casting numbers.
Looks like N over 3974988, second to last digit is unclear.
Also GM13.
Oval ten bolt cover as I posted above.

Lug pattern seems to be 4 on 4" measured diagonally or about 4 on 3-3/4 measured next to each other.
If it's a GM rear I still have no idea what it's from.
Hoping the posi is worth something to someone.

So it seems this may be a GM 7.5 from a Buick Apollo?
If it is the four lug pattern is fairly rare but the posi should be the same as Firebird, etc.
Maybe this rear came from the car as the Turbo V6 that had been in my GT6?

4x4 pattern isn't rare. Just not used anymore. It was common to Vega, Monza, Skyhawk, Starfire H bodies. 7.5 like S10 but  if I remember, the S10 2WD is a couple of inches narrower. The V6 was in all of the above besides the Vega. I put a Buick V6 in a Vega using Skyhawk mounts.

Meh, counted 2.875 turns of the input to one turn of the axle, so 2.88 gears?
Way too tall.


It seems that if it is in fact a GM 7.5 at least the posi unit may be able to be fit to my Merkur diff, I have to look into that some more.
