I'm considering a "raw forging", to build a single plane rover v8 crank. When I locate an  I4 with "close" bore centers, in a forging...... Side note, this should also fit the lotus 907 motor. Thanks, roverman.

It will need to be a very big 4 cylinder and finding a big bore 4 with a short stroke might be iffy. But have you looked at the big Mercury? Mostly used in boats.

Jim and clan. 2.3lLPinto is 4.173",a little short. Lotus 907 is 4.25", but "cast" I haven't found b.s. for Ford, mod V8-yet. "RPM" makes a billet, for it. Single plane stroke to be 3.300.". Onward, roverman.

Consider an engine with wet cylinder liners; these tend to be longer.  Two examples are TR4 and "classic" Alfa Romeo. Other possibilities are maybe a Mercedes 240 diesel or similar, or another 4 cylinder industrial engine. An industrial engine would probably have much extra metal that could eventually be machined off.

Art, have you ever heard of 2-litre Rover V8 engine, well actually a TVR supercharged version for Italy market. They were normal 3,5 in. Bore but with 40 mm stroke flat plane crank. I guess that equals about 1,6 inches... My friend bought one crank, if you need dimensions I can get them. I also have some pics that I can send you once I get home (I am currently "close" to you in NY ... at least on the same side of the Atlantic ocean)

Clan, According to "Tom" at Scat, the sbf/rover V8 crank, is ON again. Problem with 302 is 2.25" mains and limited to 3.25" stroke. Perhaps the Cleveland raw forging has potential ?In actuallity, Jukka, that crank you mention , might serve Fred Key, for his 32valve RV8 ? Cheers, roverman.

The stroke is 40 mm, std is 72 mm.

I can ask but I doubt it´s for sale. The interesting thing is the rod/piston combo. The rod length should be around 6,25-6,4" for reasonable piston height...

Ok, 1.574" stroke/2L V8 ?  At some point, the crank begins to resemble a "cam". I suspect miniscule torque ?  Onward, roverman.
