My next door neighbor is a Porsche enthusiast and a member of the local club. He has a beautiful 911 too. Anyway, he invited me to their monthly meeting yesterday at a local shop where a guy named Charles Navarro from LN Engineering gave a very interesting talk. One of the subjects he discussed was modern oils and issues with using them in older engines. He knows his stuff for sure and cleared up a lot of misconceptions on my part.  He has lots of suggestions for working around the deficiencies of today's oils. He implied that even modern engines could benefit by using oil with different formulations of ZDDP and detergents. Not intending to start a debate either.

Been reading alot about this for bedding in my cam in a week or so,Heck All I knew was use ample amounts of moly lube on the cam and run it at different stages 2500,2000,1500  and rapping it up here and there  just like I've always have, but this probably explains the heavy wear I've seen in recent tear downs that werent roller tappet.
Any thoughts on running Aeroshell with cam guard?
