I did a search and I couldn't find it, although I am sure this has had to be discussed and is common knowledge in this forum.  

I am looking for the weight of the 3000 engine as well as the transmission.

Ok, I think I found it; 691 pounds for a complete pulled engine/trans.

1963 AH 3000     MKII   weighs 2550 lbs  136 hp  167 ftlb torque  engine/trans weight 728 lbs
1979 280Z                   weights 2780 lbs  149 hp  163 ftlb torque  engine/trans weight 539 lbs
 
Performance of the AH was 10.9 0-60 and 17.9 in the 1/4 mile
Performace of the 280Z was 8.0 0-60 and 16.6 in the 1/4 mile

The Z performance / specs was from Car and Driver circa 1977


So, Z drivetrain has 13 more HP, one more gear and 189 lbs less.

One more reason for a V8, roverman.

My recollection is that the 3 liter AH engine weighed a whopping 611 pounds and the 4 speed plus overdrive weighed an additional 115 lbs.Now you know why the old timers referred to "British iron".
When I replaced my tri-carb 3 liter with a 215' Buick V8 and T5 transmission the weight reduction was so extreme that after installing coil springs from an AH 4 cylinder I had to cut off 1 and 1/2 coils to get I down to perfect height.

The horsepower/torque ratings of the Healey were made in the days of gross, not net power ratings, while those of the 280Z were net ratings. Usually gross ratings are 25% higher than net ratings. Nor are ratings made by independent testers - the automaker
does the tests and sometimes falsifies the figures.
