Glad everyone seems to have made it home ok.  I am with you Graham, Dale was very lucky to get away with the injuries he did, I saw it too and was very worried about him.  Your picture makes it look a little better than the one I got, but then I may have been a little tottery with the camera in the optical zoom mode :).  It was great to meet everyone and put the faces to the names.

Michelle, how did I not meet you?  I thought I spoke to nearly everyone, but I did miss you.  Maybe in Townsend?    I hoped to see your car and also Stephanie's, but somehow I missed them.  Maybe blinded by G.D.?   We did keep a LOW Profile and did not participate in the Parking Lot activities at nite.

mabie1978

Kelly, I didn't get mine done in time.  We were the ones in the black 911.  I know I talked to someone over by your car while we were waiting for the track time to start.  We were heading back over to our car I think when you were heading back over to yours.  As for the Parking Lot activities, I didn't participate much in those either except some during the daytime.  I didn't see Stef or Mike stop by, I was actually curious if they made it or not.  I am a wimp, had to go in out of the heat and sun in order to avoid the nasty headaches they cause me.  And for some reason every time i went inside I fell asleep.  But I did get to meet a lot of the gang from here and it was nice to do so.

Stef and Mike were unable to make BritishV8 2010.

Dale, I'm not that far from you either, (Florence) so let me know if you need any help also. Between Mike and me maybe we can help speed things along a bit.

Now this is second hand information so you'd need to go to the source, but if I recall correctly I believe Les told me that he stopped and the corner worker thought he had blown an oil line. Les told him it was a radiator hose and walked back up the track to confirm that it was coolant. That should have been time to put out the yellow. I sure as heck would buck at paying any track damages at the least.

Dale,

Post up parts that you need for your rebuild. I might be able to help you out with spares that I have.

Thanks for the offers of help.  It will be a couple of weeks until I tear into it and work out a plan. I will post parts up once I know.

Rat Rod Jr.  performed well on it's maiden road trip.  Ten days and 4000 miles on secondary (or even smaller) roads, and the mostly 100 degree heat put it to the test.  The electric fuel pump started fluttering when I had to slow for traffic -- may be the alcohol in the fuel was part of it but okay once on the way.

I find that gearheads and Brit cars don't usually mix,  that was "soi-tainly" not the case at this meet.  Moe, Larry and Curly -
good job!  Met alot of nice people and saw alot of nice cars.  See you at Townsend next year.

(ps.  Rat Rod Sr., is a '54 Chevy Cab on an Eldorado frame.)

Glad you enjoyed yourself, Steve....we find that **most** conversionists do!

Hope that you will try to make it to Townsend, TN next year to experience the Smokies!

Well, I finally made it home early this morning from Indy via Chicago, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Buffalo Point (Lake of the Woods), Manitoba, Toronto, Ontario, Moncton, New Brunswick and to home inFredericton.

Had a great time at Indy, met some new folks and renewed acquaintances with some old folks  :~)  I'm certainly planning on driving to TN next spring!  Sunday Richard, Todd and I got to do the tour of Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Really worth the time..................thanks for the suggestion Rick.

Spent a couple of days with work at a resort at Buffalo Point and some time fishing with friends.  Even caught a few fish, walleye and northern pike.  Good to be home but already thinking about the meet next year.

Dinner at the Union Jack Pub

I'm making some progress sorting snapshots now. I don't usually have much luck (or skill) photographing people, but I'm proud of how these pics (below) came out. What a nice evening! These will eventually get pasted-up into an "article" and captioned with peoples names. In the meantime, enjoy!

Incidentally, I've also started adding some new photos from the meet to the car galleries. Have a look!

I have started to tear down the car to see what i have.  The last picture shows how much the frame buckled on the drivers side.  The other side is OK.  A lot of work ahead of me.

I have a question for those of you who saw the accident.  Once the car made the inital left toward the wall did it do a full 360 spin before it got to the wall or did it basicly make a left into the wall.  I thought it made the full 360 but not sure that is the case.

The event happened quickly, but I believe you did the 360 spin manoeuvre. Didn't take a photo 'til after you came to rest against the wall
Hope most of the chassis is salvageable...but it sure looks like you've got a good Winter project.

Wow, that's a buckled frame all right.
It's a bit trite, but better it than you.
Glad you are back at it and not too badly hurt.

New Friends,

A giant smile crosses my face as I reflect on my first British V8 meet. As a newcomer with little knowledge and never having met anyone in the group face to face, I was amazed at how I was accepted and how nice I was treated. It truly is a group of friendly, humble, fun and encouraging people that are genuinely just plain nice. From my first conversation on the phone with Pete Mantell when I probably asked many stupid questions, he always patiently took the time and answered them all. When my GT got stuck during transport in Indy, Pete immediately found a temporary home for it at Dave Kirkman's house. Dave said, it was no problem. When I first communicated my interest in the meet to Rick Ingram, his emails were very encouraging and I could feel how passionate about the event he was. He was the same positive, great guy, when I met him face to face and made me feel like I had known him all my life. Merv Hagen was the first person I saw early Thursday a.m.  in the parking lot. What a pleasant person who gave me a run down on some of the cars right off the bat. My first dinner started with strangers, Peter, Graham & Gordon, and ended with me knowing 3 great Canadians that would teach me the rest of the meet about MG's. Speaking of Canadians, Ken & Katie were there to lead me around the race track in my Cadillac, battle on the Go Kart track and listened to me when I needed someone to talk to about my dad's bout with cancer. I felt awkward when I plopped myself down beside Steve and Paula for dinner at the pub, but after a short time I felt right at home and I loved listening to their car stories. They have a lot of cars! Thanks to Alex and David Mantell for helping me at the track with helmet and gear since my suitcase was a day and a half late arriving. There are many other people I haven't mentioned and I could say that each one made me feel at home. Thank you to all for making my first British V8 meeting an awesome experience. Can't wait for next year. Special thanks to Larry Shimp, Curtis Jacobson, Ted Lathrop and Pete Mantell for teaching me a lot about MGBs. Looking forward to completing my GT.

Thanks again,
Todd

I don't have Dale Knape's contact info... but thought he might be interested in this TR6.  Got the info on it through the Autotx email distribution.  $1800 asking price for a pretty complete car + extra doors, hoods, etc.  And, from what I can see from the pics, it looks to be little if any rust.  Someone with Dale's contact info might want to pass this on.

What I know about the car is below... don't know the seller...  Just seemed like for the price, Dale could get most of the parts he'd need for little after selling off the stuff not needed.

Hey Robert,

here is a few pics of my car.  please post anywhere you think people would be interested.  the engine, transmission, rear end etc are all in very good condition.  i have a lot of extra parts, and a clear louisiana title.  it all goes for $1,800.

thanks for you help.
