Appreciate any advice on the "proper" clearance between crank harmonic damper and steering rack when fitting 215 V8 in MGB.

Issue:  I'm test fitting the motor now and finding the crank damper does not fall ahead of the steering rack but will just contact it if I fully lower the motor in the frame mount slots.

I could achieve vertical clearance by adding shims to the rubber pads but this does not seem correct?  I would hope the damper would clear ahead of the steering rack vs. above it...

Details: 1977 MGB all stock no mods.  Rebuilt Olds 215V8 with MGB conversion brackets on block.  Conversion brackets do not allow lateral fore-aft movement.  Late MGB rubber mounting pads between block and frame mounts in original factory location. Rubber mounts positioned with the securing bolt in the low position.
