Interesting but I don't really approve of restricting oil flow to the mains like they did. If pumping the sump dry is a problem, to me it indicates too much loss through the bearings and the best fix is to reduce bearing clearnces to maintain oil pressure and keep oil in the sump. It has the added benefit of significantly extending bearing life because a loose bearing wears faster than a tight one. Buick/Rover engines have a similar issue where the engine was designed for around .001" clearance but hot rodders keep insisting on .002. Bad idea. It might work OK with early SBC drag engines but that's not what we're building.
