I plan of taking the same drive on Friday, Foothills Parkway, Tail of the Dragon and then the Cherohala Skyway.  We will stop for lunch at the Tapoco Lodge which has been excellent.

Change in plans for me; I won't be in Townsend this fall.  I committed to go on a trip w/our church not realizing it's the same time as our fall gathering.  They've already paid for me to go so I need to honor my commit.  Will see you guys in Wytheville if not before.

I actually talked the "better half" into staying a couple days at the Tally Ho this year. Looking forward to getting to know the group a little better and picking a few brains in regards to my next project.

BTW... there's a new "tavern" that's scheduled to open in Townsend prior to October. "Peaceful Side Social"... it's a spinoff from the Dancing Bear restaurant and could present an interesting new venue. I can personally vouch for their flagship IPA.   ;-)

And the Abbey is a great pub.  I'm part of a group that plays there on Sunday afternoons and partake of their stout and porter.  Really good flatbreads and sandwiches as well.

Looking forward to the opening of the new place.  And though it probably won't be open in time, there's another distillery outlet in the works.

We have always had a cookout as a part of this event and its always been a fun way to enjoy our time together.  This year we will have a cookout Friday and Saturday evening at the Tally Ho Inn on back patio of the big house.  

The cost is $10 per night per person ($20 for both nights per person) which includes hamburgers, hot dogs and brats. We will also have sides, cookies, water and beer available.  

I will place a  sign up sheet and a collection box on the kitchen table of the big house Thursday afternoon and I will need the signup completed by Friday morning.  

If you plan participating post a note here so we can start to get a rougn count.
