Hi

I am interested in the 4.6 long block.

Without getting onto what is and isn't included and what the specs are, the first problem I am having is trying to find out how to ship it from Colorado to B.C Canada. Would you be able to provide me with contact information of a freight company in your area?

Thanks

Bruce

Strap it to a pallet & have it trucked.

Thanks Carl

You wouldn't happen to know the name of a freight company would you?

I asked the local freight company here and they told me I would have to contact a freight company in Colorado and start from there. Thus the request.

Strapping it to a pallet was the easy part :)

Maybe Curtis can help with a trucking company in Colorado. It will also save you some money if it is shipped to an address with a loading dock.

I picked mine up at the trucking company. They loaded it onto my pickup truck with a forklift. I think I used "Overnight Trucking". "Averitt Express" is big here. Not sure if they are nationwide, though

if you know someone that has a business account with one of the truck freight coordinators, you can sometimes get a really good rate.  Those companies try to fill trucks so if there's just room for a few more pallets, they'll ship it dirt cheap.  I sent an MGB motor from Houston to California for about $50 that way a year or so ago.  Your buddy with the business will likely be happy to help because shipping rates are dependant on volume too so the more he ships, the better his rates get.

I like Averitt Express real well, but they don't have a terminal anywhere in Colorado. (They're a "regional less than truckload carrier" that mostly serves the South.) Overnite Transportation was a fine old mostly-Southern LTL too - until they got bought by UPS in 2005. You CAN ship palletized engines with the freight divisions of either UPS or FedEx. I would expect them to be relatively convenient but not especially competitive. "Yellow Transportation" is probably a better bet. They used to have a terminal very near me in Lafayette Colorado (just East of Boulder), but that's been closed, so their nearest terminal is in Aurora (which is an Eastern suburb of Denver.)

Thanks All, I have contacted Yellow Transportation and let you know what I find out.

The seller told me all the engines and crankshafts are gone.

Hi

Thanks for that information Bill.

Shipping an engine of @ 400 lbs from Denver Colorado - Vancouver Canada is @400. + 18 for warehouse charges and @45 for brokerage + the cost of the engine 400.00 = 863US Funds or 1063CDN funds.

End result. WAY too expensive to ship a motor to Canada

I used ABF once to ship a ford AODE on a pallet and I was really pleased with the service and the price.

Thanks Guys,

Most of the major bits are sold.  I do still have two sets of heads, one 4.0 crank and eight 4.0 pistons and rods.
