MGBGT at SEMA

Ran across this at SEMA this week. The guy says he drives it back and forth to work. Glass body panels and Lexan windshield, no glass in the doors. Coyote engine but no room for an alternator in the engine compartment so it is driven by the driveshaft. Probably not the best in traffic. The ugly scoop on the roof provides cooling air for helmets. More pictures here  https://www.carbuffnetwork.com/project/mgb-gt-double-agent-rm-motorsports/ thumbs up

Boy that Coyote is W-I-D-E!

Maybe a guide for Calvin's build?

You would think he could stuff one of those miniature alternators just left of the radiator hose.

Poor vehicle/engine combination. Just because it is possible does not make it a good idea.

The same criticism could be made of the MG-Roadmaster, ("If it can be done it must be done") and in that case it ended up being a very nice car, but you don't see a second one being built, and for good reasons. Although the chances of a second Coyote/MGB are higher just because there are more rabid Ford fans than rabid Buick fans, it is a less likely combination. Occasionally humans lose all control of their ability to reason.

" Occasionally humans lose all control of their ability to reason"

Only occasionally?

I read recently that common sense has become so rare that it is a Super Power!

I'm struggling to see how they couldn't find room for an alternator when there looks to be about 10 inches of room in FRONT of that radiator...add to that he's using pusher fans instead of a puller?  Seems like SEMA was the right place for this as it doesn't look like it was built to be driven.

The guy told me that he drives it back and forth to work every day. Some people's tolerance level is greater than others.

And puts a battery charger on it every night?

between here and Mgexp there are 4 or 5 post about this car called Double Agent and nobody has commented on the rear suspension it also is quite unique

Ouch. I can't see that being a good thing.

Geometry seems to be a tad off.

Jim/Rick, not sure I'm following.  There are plenty of cantalevered shock designs.  Most Indy cars and F1 are set up that way.  And I've seen them on some other IRS set ups.  Doesn't change geometry unless I'm missing something?

I do agree having the suspension inside the cabin presumably requires holes that fumes, water, and other trash would come through, but maybe he has a cover that's simply removed for the show?

MGB SS

I never got to meet the owner and talk to him about the suspension but it sure would be handy for adjusting being in the cabin

Found a pic of a set up I am guessing is comparable

I noticed it.  Thought it encroached on the cargo space quite a bit.

Mark Sawatsky (loosecannon) did the cantilever coilover shock thing several years ago on both his front & rear suspension.

Now look at that picture and just imagine if you will, putting an extra long cheater bar on that upright and using it to lift the car's front wheels off the ground. What do YOU think is going to happen?

Hello, just pointing out this is the car me and my father built in our garage, thank you all for good feedback aswell as some great criticism on the car. If y'all have any questions feel free to ask.

Avery,  Congratulations on a very cool build. I would love to see a "How it was done" article on the build posted on this site.

Hi Avery,

Many of us were looking forward to you & your very unique B/GT attending the Dayton, OH British V8 Meet in 2018.  Shame it didn't work out.

How about joining us in Fort Wayne, IN in 2021?

Hey Avery, not everyones' cuppa' but congrats on some unusual thinking, first class "homework", and mostly taking the high road on the comments.
Cheers!

I love this car!  Would certainly enjoy seeing more photos.  Hope to see it in person someday.
