I cut the car in half the day after Christmas in 2000 and the carpet install was completed today. I declare the project officially complete. The arm rests are missing from the doors because I misplaced the screws and need to get some more tomorrow but I'm still calling it done. Mixed myself a martini to celebrate. Since it is a roadster, I didn't think the carpet would make much difference in the mechanical noise but it is noticeably quieter inside now. Have to shine it up for the Good Guys show next weekend, I'll let you know how it does.

Awesome job, Jim!  Truly a 21st Century MGB.

Truly the coolest MG?GM I've ever ridden in.

I'll have to travel to San Diego  again for another ride now that it's finished..

Jim, are you sure you can't think of something else you want to improve or updated?

Jim Stabe

Just a set of forged pistons when I finally knock a hole in one of the cast stockers that are in there now. May even do a 383 although it really doesn't need more horsepower.

Well, let's hope so. At some point I'd like to consider retiring. Maybe go for the really sticky rubber this time...

I would like to run the NT-01 Nittos but most of the events require 200 treadwear so I'll likely end up with NT05's all around. That 315-35 size isn't offered by many manufacturers. BTW Jim, what air pressures do you run in yours?

BlownMGB-V8

Currently about 20 lbs but I haven't done any checking of tread temp. These tires are old though, I need to wear them out so I can get new ones.

What class do you run in?

I would think that your car would be in some unlimited class.  Those usually allow DOT R-comps.

I haven't run in any events other than the Good guys so I'm not sure of what the rules allow. I put the NT05's on the front after the accident so I'll match them at the rear. I am going to be driving it so I don't want to go through a set of tires every 5000 miles. The car isn't light so it will wear faster than your car.

Jim, l must have missed it but what does the car weigh?

Besides the tires, was the autocross fun? Sure looked like it was.

Jim Stabe

It weighs just under 2900 lbs full of all fluids. I've never ice raced but it was fun like I imagine that would be.

That's not bad at all. Bet it has good balance. Certainly enough horsepower there!
