Hey guys....unfortunately medical issues will be preventing Kay and me from attending this week....no game changers on the medical issues, just slow healing after a couple of recent surgeries. This will be only the second time we have have missed this fun event over the years. Have a great time and will see you all next year!

So sorry that you won't be able to make it Mike.  Was looking forward to seeing you again.  Hope you heal soon.

Carl, we spent some time in that giant tourist trap (Gatlinburg) yesterday and left some $ for parking and a ride on the gondola.  Enjoyed the views and then got out of town, back to that other tourist trap.......Pigeon Forge.

Rick, I think we will take Wears Valley Rd. to Townsend on Thursday.

Have you visited the Tennessee Aviation Museum in Sevierville yet?

v8mgb

I have not been there and am interested.  How much time should be allotted to tour the museum?

The trade off is the weather will be great and I  want to take advantage of that.

I found Wears Valley to be scenic but slow. Liked River Rd better, personally.

I'm with Jim B.  I much prefer the Little River Road.  I used to cut thru Wears Valley to get to Townsend years ago, but it is getting built up & full of slow traffic (not that the River Road is fast).  I now take the long way around thru Knoxville & Maryville to get to Townsend in the same amount of travel time.

Besides, I believe Phil said that he & Pam have to drive back to Nashville on Saturday.

Take the Gatlinburg Bypass to skip over Gatlinburg.  The Bypass will take you straight into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near the Sugarlands Visitor Center where the Little River Road begins. Follow it to Townsend.

A few unfortunate cancellations.  All not present will be missed.  Fully expect to see all of y'all in Dayton!

Stopped for lunch in Richmond KY.  I will arrive in Townsend at about 4:30.  Other then the rain in Indiana  it's been a great drive.

I ran in to Richard and Al Moor on I75

Did the Gathering get cancelled? :) I don't see any pictures/comments unless everyone is having too much fun to take the time to post?

Wish I could be there!

Definitely having a good time!  Yesterday was spent for the better part working on a couple of cars.  (Imagine that!)   Some of the group did manage to take advantage of the great weather and did some exploring.

Last night we cooked out here at the house - great time wolfing down burgers and hot dogs and winding our way through the many cars on the driveway.  I didn't get any pictures as I was busy flipping burgers (and downing brew!), but I know Rick took some, and pretty sure others did as well.  I'm sure they'll be posted before long.

This morning we're meeting to discuss the Roadmaster, and would imagine there will be a couple of drives.  All in all, it's been a great gathering - y'all are missed!

Arrived home safe & DRY!.  Great time and the cook out at Mickey's was fantastic.  Beautiful scenery and great people.  Parking was Tight, but all was accommodated.  Food and drink was plentiful.   Weather was also great with warm temps and no rain.  Beautiful harvest moon over the valley.  Missed some of our regulars, but life sometimes throws a curve.  Look forward to seeing you all in Dayton at next V8 meet.

Got home about 1:00pm with mostly light rain all the way. Freeway speeds with the Roadmaster in the rain is not a comfortable experience but the trip was uneventful.

Sorry to say this guys but nobody is going to be able to do an adequate job of describing the weekend to y'all. There was just too much going on. Sorta like you just had to be there.

Just got home. It rained from Knoxville to just outside Indy. Sunshine the rest of the way. Round trip, including 3 days of touring the area, totaled 1700 trouble free miles. Merv got his coil back, so we're back to even. We had a fantastic time as the previous posts so well described. Thanks again to Mickey and Janet for hosting a Great cook-out
