Well last Friday it was 78 degrees outside with bright sunshine, I took my MGB out for a spin around the neighborhood, about 120 miles. I spent the day Saturday cleaning out the barn and tucking my baby in for a long winters nap. Sunday besides taking a few hours out to watch the Sprint Cup finals, I spent the day watching the snow fall and wishing I had never sold the house in Crystal River Florida. (Damn kids had to wait till I was retired and living The Life of Riley to present us with grand children.) So today, Monday, I finally broke down and mounted the Queer Eskimo on the front of the tractor and gave the driveway it's first of many blow jobs of the year.

Tony, that's the story of my life too...a history of bad timing!

Got a rude shock here this morning too, a light dusting of snow and below freezing.  I went for a nice top down drive on Friday.........beautiful day.  A long hard winter predicted for us to make up for a fairly mild winter last year.  Photo of my first short excursion last year in late March.

Sounds like my work schedule for today. Mow the back yard one last time and then remove the mower deck and hydraulic pump, to be replaced by the snowblower. At least the sky is clear.

Some guys have all the luck!

You guys need to get yourselves a snowmobile or two. I've had various sleds since 1978 and it definitely changes your outlook on winter. Of course if I had to shovel my driveway everyday, that would get old.;-)

I did the snowmobile thing back in the late 60's early 70's, was not too impressed with being really cold. My blood is too thin from meds and alcohol to spend more time than the 100 foot walk from the house to the heated barn into the heated cab of the tractor and maybe feed the birds and deer while I'm out there

Heated cab.... yeah, I'd like the think that's in my future.

Jim I built the heated cab out of 1/2 inch plywood, 1/8 inch plexiglass, and 1x1x1/8 angle iron for about $300 bucks, the heater is something I picked up at Harbor Freight that plugs into the cigarette lighter
