Is a Quaife necessary or will my MGC spider gears hold up?

I have a standard 93-95 GM 3.4 V6 and T5 (V6) transmission, 3.07 MGC axle and 15" wheels.  I've been looking at a Quaife LSD because I have concerns about the standard  spider gear assembly holding up with occasional spirited road use.
Can those of you running the same conversion as me tell me if you have experienced any problems with your standard diffs?
I'm not interested at this time with going with an alternate axle configuration.

Michael, you can probably get by with your combo.  Drag racing and "Dumping the clutch" is not recommended with that gear set.  Road racing and other forms should be OK, just no Dumping the clutch or side-stepping.  Standard tires should not get adequate traction to cause you problems.  My OEM R/E held up to several months, only the u-Joint did not with 275 RWHP and 205-50X16 tires. :-)
