Great to meet Tony in Townsend this year. Very cool car!

I'm with Jim S on that dyno 1/4 mile estimate. It's quite overestimated.  I used to drag race my '68 Camaro.  I spent hours with a Quarter Jr. program trying to find ways to go faster.  I would plug in a lot of variables, gears, tires, HP, temperature, humidity, etc.  It takes a lot of horsepower to get in the 9s in a car.  Just look at Perry's MG for an example.

Real world drag racing on a cool Fall evening with drag slicks, Tony would likely be reading a time slip that says 10.8 sec at 122-125 mph in the 1/4 mile.

Jim, I'm with you, it'd probably struggle for mid 11's WITH slicks.

How about we all agree to refrain from "publishing" theorhetical numbers for both HP and 1/4 mile times.  If you want to state HP, then you post the dyno sheet to back it up.  The same goes for 1/8th mile and 1/4 mile times, post the timeslip or don't mention it.  Silly claims only take away from what is otherwise a good build.

Just a thought.

Regarding "Theoretical" numbers, somewhere on the Board, we used to have a thread for posting "Dyno Sheets".  There were many posted.  The numbers were shown to be true and accurate since many of the sheets were actually completed at a British V8 Meet where a Dyno was available.  There was one a Durham NC meet and another a Palestine Tx..  Maybe someone would be able to locate, but I have not come up with correct search term.  Memory serves to  indicate both were  DynoJet not Mustang Brands.  Reason for noting the brands as they have minor differences of results.  We used the results of the various dyno pulls to determine optimum total time advance for the 5.0L engine in the B.  Best power numbers came from total of 34 degrees ( Base 13d) total, but best fuel mileage came in at 40 (Base 19d) degrees total.   Generally you will be disappointed with your power numbers, but facts are facts!

Yeah. I pasted those numbers into the article after Tony included them in a message board post. The quarter mile time seems okay by me so long as it comes with disclaimer "on a dyno". Dyno numbers are suspicious enough anyhow. Notoriously inconsistent from machine-to-machine, operator-to-operator, and maybe even day-to-day. But people enjoy reading and discussing them. No doubt though: Tony has a very powerful engine!

It certainly is a nice car, but 350 RWHP in the Roadster will not make the 9's I'm afraid :(

Even on a good day with slicks and a great track surface... This aint going to happen !

The best way to get a baseline is to run on the strip and then figure out where you gain gain time ?

Can you give me the address where you bought the VW rabbit flares  and some pics how to install them.
I bought a pair several years ago but lost the address. I have welded the 2 rear ones on but came to a halt on the spot where the flare meets the lip where the ss strip was. How did you go by that ?
