TR6 hood locks

My good buddy Dennis just completed a really nice frame off resto on his TR6.
He went to open his hood yesterday and a brand new hood cable broke.
Anybody know of any tricks to get it open?

I think checking the Triumph Six Pac forum might help. a friend of mine took thr head light and pot out on the passenger side and gotsomething in there to spring the hook. He also put an emergency cable staight down from the catch throu the scuttle behind the dash that you could just pull down on just in case
