Looks like it will be a fantastic event. Wish I could make it.

lawnvett

I'd try to get there from NC, I have three sons o living on the west coast.  It's fun to drive cross country in a LBC with extra power.

PJ
We'd love to see you here......

RMO 699F

A very interesting concept...I would try to make that event!

A sure way to have M. Maloney attend is to offer" Curb Service."   He can't refuse  :-)

Sounds like fun Marshall! Which month were you thinking about having in?

Bill

DiDueColpi

You mentioned "wine country" I'm in.

mgbman

Mike
Love to see you here.....seems like there is getting to be a little interest from the mid-West.....and as my wife is from Iowa, she would love to see the Mid-West represented....LOL

But seriously, hope you can make it.,...

mgbman

Kelly,
I will keep curb service in mind...may be an opportunity to get others along as well???

mgbman

Bill,
I am not sure what month at this point; any suggestions so I can entice you to make the trip down here? Be a nice cruise, even down through the Oregon Coast..... Hmmmmm, maybe an idea for 2017???

mgbman

Fred,
Great to hear---mind you, you could make a detour coming down and hit the wine areas of Eastern Washington as well.......
But I am sure that Napa is high on the list, no?

Jim Stabe

I would appreciate a month with no likelihood of rain - no top you know.

Marshall,

Pretty much any time in the summer works for me if I know by the first of the year when we submit our vacation request for the year. The one exception usually seems to be the two middle weeks of July, when the guy at the top of the seniority list normally takes his vacation.

As far as rain goes, normally the best chance for good weather on the west coast is mid-late July, August and September. Although the draw back to September is that you start to run into conflicts, for those who have kids in school.

For guys traveling from the East and Mid-west, if you can swing the extra time, it's worth it to the drive North along the coast through the Redwood Forest and even up in to Oregon/Washington along Hwy 101. It's a pretty drive with lots of twisty roads and moderate temperatures!

How about last week in July? Although the way things are in CA at then moment, any time of the year will be "fine" with no likelihood of rain... :(

Bill-- I agree wholeheartedly with your suggestions regarding the cruise--that stretch of the coast is incredible....

I'm all about positive...but the heat in July is the  absolute worst time to travel from Midwest - East to the west coast in British sports cars...I would suggest either late May or Septemberish...something to consider...

mgbman

Maybe we ought to put it to the vote? I fully understand the inconvenience with the humidity/heat.....
To be honest, I am ok with whatever the majority decides--simply because that is probably the least of my planning woes...LOL

Seems like later May is going to be the best alternative, especially for those with kids in school..?

I think it's great to see this kind of activity in planning a west coast meet. It's a good sign for success.

Marshall,

The last week in July would be fine. The poll idea is good, it's always tough to find a date that works for everyone.

Bill

JWD

A poll would be a great idea. I'm with Mike, late May/early June or Septemberish.

DiDueColpi

The only time that doesn't work for me is late June.
Other than that everything else is flexible.

mgbman

I am flexible.......so I can work with any date----whatever works for the majority.
As soon as we can come to a consensus, I will begin another fresh post with a proposed route and date--does that work?

Jim Stabe

I'm flexible as well, retired, no kids in school.

Live 1 hour north of SF, 20 mins. inland from Bodega Bay....the Coast ride is very popular, for obvious reasons....the area north of Stinson Beach is spectacular....wine and cheese abound.....much good food as well...many good hotels and rentals...weather is always cool in the AM and pleasant to warm till sunset...my MGB enjoys the mornings on the Coast  the most, ( see what I did there ?). Will keep an eye out for this ...hope it happens...

Cars & Coffee 1st Sun. of every month in nearby Novato...a great mix of people and cars that continues to grow...https://www.facebook.com/pages/Marin-County-Cars-and-Coffee/160155830753455

This club is just across the road from C&C and enjoys meeting new people all the time,

Thanks Mike
Had no idea that you were so close.......and as our counterparts will find out next year---that area is fantastic for cruising and checking out the scenery.

Really looking forward to seeing you there but may check out the Novato scene prior-- my brother in law lives over there and it is only a 20 minute drive for me......

Still working on getting this together however; hard slog but I think the end result will be worth it.
