WTB Buick 225 head gaskets.

Bought the only parts readily available from Fel-Pro, then returned them as they are truly too large around the cylinder.
Seems they are trying to say they fit ALL the Buick v6's, not really true for a performance engine.

TA Performance no longer has any, and their source for the steel .030 steel shim gaskets stopped making them too.

There were a LOT of these engines sold so someone should have a set on the shelf, I won't mind a dusty package.

My old gasket measures .040 after crush, and 3.84" across the sealing surface from top to bottom.

My cylinder bore measures about 3.784".

I want to avoid a gap around the cylinder where the head gasket does not fully fill in as I understand it to make an engine prone to detonation.
The new Fel-Pro were over 4.0".

UPDATE, Found a part number on the old gasket but had no luck with a web search.
Old gasket number is 6755 or e6755.

I will check those out on Monday.
Need to KNOW the inside dimension as most sources just push the oversize Fel-Pro gaskets.

Wish I could determine the brand of the old ones.

Richard, I would try "Egge", in Ca. "Buick Farm", back east, ofr"Hemmings". Most V6's had a 3.800" bore. Cometic is pricey-but, you get what you pay for... roverman.

Bought NOS GM gaskets from these guys.

They are a great source for individual gaskets and original gaskets for older cars.
I hope they will be correct, will send them back if they are also oversize.
They also list a .015 steel gasket but cannot confirm the cylinder bore dimension.

OK, the new 225 head gaskets finally arrived.
Original Buick embossed steel # 1357869
Steel is .025" thick.
They are embossed so I'm not certain of compressed thickness.
The old composite gaskets were .040".

In the "Old days" we used to paint gaskets with silver paint before install.
Been a while, have we got a better system now?
