Maybe a "Modified British Motorcycle" section?

I've seen V8-powered bikes, but I don't know if there was anything British about them.

Back in the day, Britain built the world's greatest bikes! Norton, Vincent, Triumph, BSA, Matchless, Ariel, Royal Enfield, Brough Superior, just to name a few.

And don't forget the Velocette, James, Villiers, Matchless, Sunbeam, Vincent, AJS, JAP, HRD, Greeves and Douglas. I'm sure that there were many more too. Owned a Norton, several BSAs, an Ariel, an AJS and a Royal Enfield in the sixties and seventies.

Ah memories. Nortons, Enfields, Ducati's (not British, but wow what a bike), Sunbeam, and more.
I still have a Triumph and two BSA's.

72 Triumph Trident - 750 triple

58 BSA B33 - 500 single

51 BSA M21 - 600 single (side valve)

I'd have more, but between the cars and shop toys, I just don't have the space...

Ever heard of a Healey 1000/4 motorcycle? I hadn't... until this morning.

I'm curious to know how the headers are attached to the cylinder heads. Weird!

That Healy m/c engine is a reworked Ariel Square Four Mk2 engine.

FYI - those engines were anything BUT performance oriented. Meant for leisurely cruising. The original ones had a single carb that was so small you could barely slide your pinky through the plenum. This one appears to still have the original carb. FYI - If you click on the main pic on the bonhams site, it brings up a whole series of pics.

Regarding keeping the headers in - if you look closely, you can see that it is a finned cover bolted to the cylinder head, that clamps and covers the header connection.

Such a cool thread. Inspirational, even. Over this morning's coffee I've been reading about <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Flying_Squirrel">Scott "Flying Squirrels"</a> and also about the extremely impressive <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silk_700S">Silk "700S"</a> motorcycle.
