Horn troubles

I am experiencing some difficulty with my horns  - a little background

1974 TR-6 Ford 302.  Dan Masters wiring harness, motolita steering wheel, custom steering shaft with woodward u-joints, syock steering rack and richard good solid rack mounts.

The wiring harness is in and everything functions properly except the horn.  

When I touch the steering wheel the horn sounds (not the buttom, just the outer rim with very slight pressure).  When I use the flash to pass switch, the horn sounds.  The button also makes the horn sound. Once the horns starts, sometimes I have to disconnect the battery to stop it.

Any clues where to look for the source of this problem?  I happens with and with out the ground from the steering rack attached to a ground point.  

When I was testing the new harness out last weekend, the horn seemed to work fine.

Probably pinched wire on horn. Dash looks great.

You may need to extend the steering wheel shaft out just a little so that the horn contact spring doesn't make the connection for the horn. Mine did this too until I did this. Do you remember the part that is behind the steering wheel horn button(in the wheel adapter) with a spring in it(it is about 1 1/2" long 1/4" diameter)? There is a hole in the steering wheel adapter that this parts goes through and makes contacts with the copper plate. If it touches the horn will sound. The part I'm talking about is 560-430. Type that number in the search box on moss website.

I messed with it today and came to a smilar conclusion .  I moved the wheel and adapter out a little less than a 1/4" and the horn now functions normally.

Thanks for the compliment on the dask.  It was my first veneering project.  Version 2 will be even better!
