Is it my imagination or do I recall seeing a swap somewhere that involved moving the shifter on a T5 transmission forward? I am doing a spitfire swap using a T5 and need the shifter moved forward. I know the S10s had a more forward shifter but I have a Camaro T5 I would like to use. Thanks.

Look up Mark Sawatsky'sv12 MGB GT  in Project Journals and scroll down 40 pictures to see a neat way to move the shifter ahead any  length you want .It's a really neat idea. Hope that helps you.

For the Ford T5 - The S10 tail shaft conversion puts the shifter in the correct position.  There a re two S10 tail shaft options, electric and gear drive speedo though, and which one you use affects options for speedo.  We used the gear drive unit because it was far easier to find, and as we are planning to use a GPA speed sensor it really was not an issue.

I am getting ready to put a T5 in my TR4A.
Today, I am planning to use a T5 tailshaft from 'moderndriveline.com'.

It's pricey though.  But it gives you two places to put the shifter.  It appears to be like the S10, but easier to find.

I bought the Modern Driveline S10 style T5 tail housing a while back. It was a good option for relocating my gear shift lever and it also has the proper location for the Ford speedometer cable. The transmission mount on that tail housing is different than the original transmission mount on the Ford style tail housing. It did require modification to the transmission mount on the frame as well as to the metal/rubber transmission mount itself, to interface to the new tail housing.

Yes. You can swap an S10 tail to the Camaro trans if that gets the shifter where you need it.

Or, do Mark's trick.

I used a ford t5 out of a 93 mustang. once iinstalled i flipped the mustang shifter and it put the shift nob pretty close to the stock location. Of course i had to make my own transmission cover. Good luck. Cheers.
