cam new or reground

it is time to deal with my cam problem it is pitted and needs to be reground or get a new one i have read that regrinding is bad because they dont get reharden but they are a lot less expensive than a bran new one so whats the deal with them

Tristan, Delta Cams in Tacoma does excellent regrinds. Give them a call and see what they recommend. Most important is to use oil with Zinc in it for ANY flat tappet cam. Also ALWAYS use new lifters with a new or reground cam.

i will buy new lifters if i get a new cam. but why is it so important what happens if i used old ones

The lifters get flat on the bottom instead of convex(curved to allow rotation.)  Also they develop a wear pattern to that lobe. You treat a regrind the same as new because the lobes are hardened. If a person takes out the lifters on a used cam and doesn't put them back in the same holes they will grind down the cam lobes. If you use oil without a zinc additive also,

X2 for Delta cams. I had them do a custom grind for me and it's working out well.
