Anyone in the Las Cruces area for hire to swap my 77 MGB to a V8???

I have been wanting to get my rubber bumper 77 MGB back on the road for a long time but I physically can not do the work needed since I have multiple shoulder surgeries while military and had to be retired out. So I am hoping there is someone in the area I could work with to get the job done.  I thank anyone for the help.  I'm not really picky as to what goes in it but money is an object for me, though I can afford something. Mainly I want to get it back on the road, but I also want to have a lot of fun when I want to when I drive it {=O)

Chris, what swap are you considering?  60* GM V6 is probably one of the easiest & well supported.  Other options are Ford 302 & Rover 3.x liter (prior Buick/Olds/Pontiac 215 motor).  Each has it's following and kits/parts available to help with the swap.  Lots of other motor options but when you move away from those three, you get into custom fabrication territory.

Ya, I'm trying to avoid a lot of custom fabrication... I like the 302 option, but wish I could but a large light aluminum 3.5-4L V6 in that can put out 300HP but without a lot of electronics.  I want to outcome to be as light as I can and only do what I tell it to do.  I don't want anything but my foot controlling how much fuel is going into the engine...

I like these Honda V6's (http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/pts/4086609949.html) even though it has a bit of electronics, though they are at the top of anything I would want to pay.  But on another note I would really like to have a V8... I think I want to look into the 302 idea more.

If you're thinking 302, you should reach out to Pete Mantel & Bill Guzman.  Both have kits and both are well known in the BV8 community.  Can't help with local presence to do the work, but with the kits there is less work to pay for.

The LS engines are becoming more popular and less expensive and we have a thread here about the LS4 that is proceeding nicely. Scott is getting fairly close to having it ready to start the swap from a V6-60. Bill Gaulin has a completed swap with a carb that looks very nice. Light aluminum engine with plenty of power.

thanks for the compliment jim anyways chris as far as the ls engines they are getting to be easy and not to much money to buy you can get a 5.3,4.8 even from a pickup and they have aluminum heads ,oil pan intake weighes about the same as a stock mgb engine believe it or not with 300 hp easy I did a chrome bumper so had cutting to do so a rubber bumper there would be less for sure like jim said I did a carburetor got rid of the electronics edelbrock makes a box that plugs into the crank and cam sensors and that's it well good luck with what ever you do
