IRS axles, 1/2 shafts and 300M

I'm not sure we've discussed metalurgy on these ? Boxter 1/2 shafts are approx. 2.5" too long, each,( 10" more track width than stock Jensen Healey). These units are 28 spline x 1.200",(30.5mm), same as 930 Porsche. Reduced diameter beyond the spline/boot attachment area, so shortening is not an option. First choice in aftermarket is "Sway Away" brand, stronger than oem and less than 1/2 cost of 300M custom axels. Local axle maker uses 300M exclusively,(mostly the off-road market). This is considered "the" material of choice, when torsion strength is paramount. Anyone use this material ? Cheers, roverman.

talk to Frank @ 'The Drive Shaft Shop' in Salsbury NC.  They do 930 style.  Not sure what material.
