TR7 Brake Booster

Has anyone swapped in a more powerful brake/booster into a TR7?
If so, what make/model worked okay?

I'm in Canada. If the Aussie Ford/Holden unit available in north america of is this a standard Ford unit?

Not sure about that. Usually Holden is stock GM stuff I think.

I installed one into my buddies TR8 for him several years ago along with a 1" master and an adjustable proportioning valve. It works very well. I had to open up the mounting holes a little, but nothing too difficult. I think he picked it up from Summit.

I saw that Summit has alot of different set ups.
did you install a 7" single diaphram unit or was there room to fit in an upgrade?

It was slightly bigger than was the TR8 booster I removed, which is slightly bigger than the TR7 booster. Hope that helps. Your limited on the outside diameter because of the windshield scuttle hanging over the top of the booster. If you go much bigger, it won't fit. We fitted the bigger unit on his car for several reasons. The main reason was because he went to bigger 4 piston Willwood calipers in the front and stock Ford calipers on the back. We also fitted a rear end out of a Lincoln with 12 inch rear discs. We needed to go to either a 7/8 or 1" master to push that much fluid. The unit we installed was the cheapest best solution to meet all of the needs the car had. The adjustable proportioning valve came mounted under the booster and made dialing in the brakes easy. I plan on installing something similar on my car as soon as I can get around to it. It has Willwoods all around, and the stock master has way too much travel.

Looks as if an 8" diaphram would fit if windshield wheel box cover was modified

HI I put in an universal 9 inch booster and a 7/8 master. The got rid of the stock proportioning valve for a Willwood adjustable one. It works good can lock up all 4 wheels. All for less than 200$.

I went with Miata because I converted to disks in the rear. It worked out for my application, (not for drums, I wouldn't think).
