I am going to California tomorrow to pick up the 77 MGB I won on ebay. I'm told the O/D does not work. Any simple way to check O/D electrics for problems? All ideas appreciated.

There are probably folks here who can answer your question, but you'll likely get a quicker response on questions related to stock MG stuff at the MG Experience board (http://www.mgexperience.net/phorum/list.php?1). This site caters to folks doing engine swaps (V8, V6, turbo'd I4, etc.) into British cars.

Thanks, Rob. I plan to stuff a 302 into this car hence my joining. In the meantime I'd like to enjoy it as it is today. BTW, your car is super - just watched the video - very impressive.

Richard, you can run a jumper wire directly to the OD solenoid from the battery and if the mechanicals and hydraulics are in order it should kick in. If not a fluid change and cleaning the filter screen may do the trick. Internally the OD is a simple device. I once re-staked one or more of the spring pins and had a good repair. Still working today.

Thanks for the responses, folks. Picked the car up in Pollock Pines last Friday and drove it to Winnemucca, NV without incident - also without lights of any kind! The wiring is a mess and I may be better off getting a new wiring harness. JB, I will try your tips. Thanks again.

Or use a streetrod harness from Painless Wiring or other vendor. Don't laugh, but Streetrodder Magazine is a great source for vendors on conversion parts.
