T5 shifter boot

The rubber shifter boot on my tranny is torn & was surprised there aren't any on ebay.  The shifter is a Steeda style one; the boot is round at the bottom, not the rectangular shaped one that seems to be popular... any ideas where to find one?

2nd alternative is to make one out of some upholstry vinyl but I'm not sure how long it'd actually hold up.

just go to a tack shop(supplier of all things horses and leather)  if there are any around or a cobbler or leather artisan.they can whip you one up in a jiffy .i saw lots on ebay the other day made of leather for vettes and vipers and universal in both round and rectangular.

Can you make part number 105 (Moss 282-890, "Grommet, rubber shift lever" $6.95) work?



That's what I used... I cut the top of it larger to mate with a Camaro shifter lever.

my bad i thought you were talking about the leather shifter boot not the rubber seal underneath it.or are you? lots of nice leather boots on ebay for the t5.i just punched in mustang shifter boot.the billet depot has leather ones for $29.99 or best offer.i orderd mine there along with the billet bezel for it. the shifter i am using is a b&m ripper shifter and it has a rubber dirt cover under the actual boot.i thought maybe that was what you were looking for.i have a factory spitfire rubber shifter boot from a 69m111 if it is any use to you.

I have a couple of new ones (part number 105 (Moss 282-890,) on the shelf here and you are more than welcome to them.
I don't use them with my T5 because it then allows the gearshift lever to kick out of gear. i just use the leather shift boot.
It doesn't seem to be any problem

Or are you talking about the rubber boot that attaches to the T5 shift tower with a spring clamp

I was recently informed that the lower one (T5 shift boot with clamp) has been discontinued.

Wow, this is an old post.  I was looking for the lower boot like the bottom one in Graham's picture.  I ended up buying an S10 shifter w/boot off ebay.  Used the boot & will re-list the shifter at some point.

How did you fabricate the shifter cover? This is how I did mine which uses the original boot (btw I can weld 1000x better then I did then but I have always been good with a grinder):

Just as a tip for when you can't find or get a boot anymore; use a small CV joint axle boot from a small car or even an ATV.....

Gary, with my engine/trans combination, the shifter lined up with the stock hole.  So I just used the lower boot to seal the trans and the stock mg boot above it to seal the cabin.
