Folks, occasionally scam artists post on message boards. The following reply was posted earlier today in answer to two "wanted" ads on our forum. A quick Google search revealed that its author has been reported as a bad apple on multiple other message boards. If the seller isn't someone with a history of posting on this message board, be especially weary...

I got one in a PM also.  It's pretty obvious it's a scam.

Yeah. I probably could just let the spammers post freely and trust you guys to ignore them. I think doing so might invite copycats. I don't want ANY spam or scam abuse on BritishV8.

I can and certainly will block privileges of any "member" who tries to take advantage of our credulous simplicity... but I can only do so if I'm aware of the abuse.  PLEASE let me know if you believe someone has attempted to defraud you. Since the private message system is private, I don't monitor and I can only prosecute abusers if I hear from the people they try to cheat. Please carbon copy me (i.e. "Moderator") if you receive a suspicious private message. Of course I already try to keep an eye on the forums, but you can help me there even more easily. There's a "Report This Message" option under every post.

Curtis, Interesting subject. Since I joined Facebook, especially before I posted my "picture",I had offers from many beautiful women from around the world, wanting  to be my friend and have a long term relation$hip/green card ? Maybe I'm too cynical ? Fortunately, after I posted my picture, I get hardly any offers, blind ladies excepted. Let's be cafeful out there !, roverman.

Partly because the topics interest me, partly for some of the characters that post here, but largely because it is "clean".
Recently I was in Spain and used an internet cafe in Barcelona. Apparently this was a mistake, the sheer volume of crap that my email account now receives is astounding. I have won everything that I ever dreamed about and bank accounts that I never knew I had are overflowing with cash! Even at 50 years old I'm some serious stud muffin judging by the requests.
Anyway I can only imagine how much work goes into keeping this board clean.

Hi Art,
I went to your facebook page , your not a bad looking guy ! Looks like  you would be a hoot ! You look like a happy fun loving guy full of piss and vinegar !
There will always be scam artist out there , I sell on Ebay and I always have someone  trying to pull something !
Had a guy send me a 3500.00 E Check for a 100.00 item, just  send me the change with the item , yeah right !
I'll give you three guesses which country he wanted it sent to !

I got a message from the guy. I knew it was a scam so I sent a dumb message in return.

It is always good to remind people , when you drop your guard that's when they get you. That's a good one send them a dumb answer , or ask them for cash so you can send it and you will cash the bad check later, scam them back ! I think they could make a good living if they would work as hard at a real job !

William, Not too much vinegar-anymore, but at least I get a senior discount, for "liners", lol. I also fill out my "Jury Duty" form with Crayola ! That's all they let me use here- at "The Home". What the future brings?...Depends !  roverman.

Just had a friend suggest a great retaliation for all those scammers.
He simply forwards all of their messages to each other.
They then send all the scams etc to themselves.
I think it's brilliant!
