Okay, for those that have vertically challenged garages (8 foot ceilings), this looks very interesting:

Graham, you are getting close to being a South'ner.  Maybe they can get grits and Dickel at Tim Horton's. Better watch out, you will get rejected at the Border and asked if you have a "Handgun".  The girl asked if had guns at home and then asked if had one with me, even after I advised had only my travel bag.  "have to watch the southern boys, they all carry guns!"

Hold your breath for that one, Graham!

Seems maybe Graham is more "International"

Only problem I see with that lift is that undoubtedly someone at some time is going to be tempted to try to use it without bolting it down and that is going to end in disaster. (Hey, no problem buddy, let me just bring over my portable lift! We'll set it up in your driveway!) One of the bases will slip out and the whole works will come crashing down. In truth it's a lawsuit just waiting to happen and I can't believe they were able to get product liability insurance on it.

Its a cool idea, but i wonder how portable it really is.  Let's face it, it can't be light so probably isn't all that easy to move.  And, will it really save space if you ever do take the time to unbolt & move to the side or back of the garage?  Doesn't seem like it'd save much space compared to where it'd be normally installed.

I don't have the money for one anyway, but if I did, I think I'd just keep an eye out for a regular one being sold by a shop closing down -- craigslist seems to have 3-5 of them at any given time around here.

As for liability, you may be right Jim... but I hope a judge or jurry would decide anyone who tried to take that suit forward is a moron & charge them for wasting everyone involved's time.  Some people just don't belong in our gene pool.

Hi Carl,
Thanks for this post , I was looking at these to put in the old shop way in the back of my property after I tear it down , add to the slab and build it back bigger. I was going to get a full size one and they are around 1500.00 and up. I never thought of buying a used one . Rob was right they are all over Craigs  list , must be a couple of doz. and several fot 8 and 9 hundred, save myself about 1/2  !
