Webb site says, "call for price".  Maybe a good head for a 4.02" bore, eh MIKE and did you submit a "how it was done", on that bad boy ? Anybody runnin these-yet ?  roverman.

Art-
The motor ran and well now it is apart due to head/block issues and the o-rings. Running on 6 cylinders it made 330 rear wheel horsepower. Then it developed a leak between the middle two cylinders on each bank. Now its more surface area and additional sealing with the o-rings.

roverman

Thanks Mike, o-rings on top of sleeves ?Your 3/09 picture does'nt show o-rings. Hollow/gas filled? Sleeves are .xxx" proud of surrounding deck ? Would a thicker deck ,head help ? Worked 300 heads. Share ? roverman.

In the end it was the buick 340 cast itron heads with 10 bolts to cap off the engine. The 10 bolt pattern, o-ring, plus compression just did not work out. These engines also develope a ton of crank case pressure too and when you leak by an o-ring its only time till she gives up!.

Just talked to TA ten minutes ago.
The heads are not ready to sell yet.
A pattern change is being done and they expect to release them near the end of the year.
Prices and valve sizes are not available as yet.
Oh well.... back to the shop to bolt the old ones back on.

I donut colpi. Interestingly enough, Mike Sr., over on the "V8 Buick" site, states they just got their first production batch of castings, back from the foundry. Fred, if you read back, these were supposed to be available bout' a year ago ? Mike reportedly got the ported intake side to flow 280 cfm./28", with a 2.02 int. and no undercut stem. I think their in an exclusive with "Oz". 2 cents, roverman.

DiDueColpi

Yep I know they were to be done over a year ago.
I've been in line for 3 sets for some time now. Mike might have jumped the gun a bit as they don't have a useable casting yet. The porting was all done on a pre production unit with a 1.94" valve.
It sounds like there is an exhaust problem hence the pattern change.

Poor planning in my opinion. The head was designed without any regard for use on the SBB engines. How could that be? Probably the TRS influence. Anyway during development they finally began to listen to the screams of the V8Buick crowd and thought it might be a good idea to include them (Duh!). The result was a redesign intended to allow their use on not just the Rover line, not just the 215, 300, and the 340 SBB engines, but the venerable Buick 350 as well. This is the approach they should have taken from the very beginning but they were blinded by dollar signs, where visions of $3500 checks danced in their heads. I very much hope that viewpoint has changed however, else extremely few of us will be buying them.

I agree Jim. The planning could have been much better.
It will be interesting to see who has to change manifolds and cams. Us or the 350 crowd.
By the way the work on your new engine is phenomenal, I'm a big fan.

Hemi head, Fred, anybody? I'm trying to "squeeze" one onto a sbm, first. Then we'll see.roverman.

BlownMGB-V8

Oh, it'll be the early style head alright, (not the 350 layout) partly because of Oz and partly because of their V6 heads. So the 350 guys who want to use them will need an intake and a custom cam. That shouldn't be too difficult. But the good news? An intake for the 350 will be the right intake for the 340 also.

Thanks for the compliment Fred.

350 guys will also need different hedders(a good thing). Two exhaust ports, side by side, not a good thing. I don't see a 340/350 cast crank, with "Honda" journals, holding down a serious TA headed motor, for very long. Now if they "densified" that crank...?roverman.

BlownMGB-V8

340 headers are available for Buick applications so no problem there, and 1000 hp 350 SBB engines have been built (turbo).

What I got from the sbb post, from builder of 1,000 hp.sbb, was it was about as durable, as truth bespoke from a politician ? LS,sbc. forging ? roverman.
