rover 3.9 basic rebuild parts

So, we just picked up a 3.9 rover, where's the best place in the US to get basic rebuild parts? Rings, bearings, gaskets, etc.? Thanks!

Wow, I thought that would be an easy question to answer! I guess not. I have found some parts at standard options like Rockauto.com and O'reilly Auto, etc., just not really an all inclusive vendor that specializes in Rovers. Then there are overseas options like RPI, etc, but I like the idea of something closer. And I guess I was assuming that D&D doesn't do Rovers?? At any rate, we'll figure it out!

LOL. Ok. This post just breezed right past me. What's crazy is I have no idea. My build was so custom I didn't even get a rebuild kit. I did get new ss bolts from an ebay store. Alloyboltz

Then it was just custom parts from there out. I did use some high temp RTV. I just bought a nice header gasket from this place:

Supposed to fix leaky header gaskets. We'll see. Sorry not much help, brother.

Thanks guys, Bill I never thought of Peter for anything other than shocks! My Dad and I picked up this motor last weekend from Paola, KS - so we were in your neighborhood! I'm neck deep (okay, I'm over my head) in my own projects, but my Dad got a sudden itch to get a buick or a rover to rebuild. We don't even really have a car in mind for it, I guess he just likes playing with motors and who really needs to justify a hobby anyway, right?

Hi Ryan, mine is the 3.5 but it is a total rebuild. I had the machine shop get the bearings and such but I bought the pistons from D&D along with the molly rings. For some of my gaskets I used either D&D or VB since they were the same as the Triumph engine for my needs. I too used the stainless steel bolt set from Alloyboltz.com, they seem to be a really nice set up and the price was right. I could list everywhere that I went but might drive you crazy

I just recently purchased a 3.9 short block from a Rover mechanic. The previous owner of my short block likes Atlantic British and being a Rover guy he favors the genuine rover stuff. I think you can also buy most of what you need from D & D and from local discounters. Summit Racing has most of the internal parts like camshafts, lifters, etc. that interchange with the BOP 215. Atlantic British prices compared to a local Rover specialist are a lot less.

I really enjoyed seeing you MGB-GT project last summer.
