So where are you right now? Me, sitting in my hotel room in Durham, NC typing this thing, after a Good Night in the Hotel Parking lot and a Full day of FUN.

It has indeed been a blast!

The "parade laps" were MUCH better than expected.

BTW...in the MG runoffs today, an MGB/GT took first in class an first overall.

Another great couple of days almost at an end. Great trip over to Flying Circuis Cars in Durham yesterday with some good tech sessions and then up for some dyno time for some of the guys. Today it was up to Danville, VA on some nice roads to visit with Dale Spooner at Motion Machine. A great guy and wonderful machinest. Really showed us what it takes to machine a good strong race or street motor. Then we ran over to Virginia Internation Raceway for the go karts. What a blast, we had at least 45 minutes of actual time in the karts for each person and after the first couple of heats started buching acording to lap times so the final few sessions had some really close racing. The last race was won in the last bit of straight before the finish after 10 laps with only .01 second between the first and second place karts. That's close! After the first couple of laps these same two guys crossed the line dead even at one point and were almost wheel to wheel the entire race. Congrats to Max Fulton for his win. One more fun day for this year and then we can all start planning to get to Indy for the 2010 meet.

The karting was a BLAST. (I had never experienced it before...my lawnmower was the extent of my "fun" for this type of engine! I was slow...but I really didn't care...it was fun learing to set up turns (the hairpin gave me more problems that the off-camber, downhill, high speed turn....my lap speeds increased with each circuit of the track.

Bill Guzman was a hoot...ask him about how he likes to "reach out and touch somebody" as he barrels down the front stretch!
