T5 Transmission Vaccum

Anyone able to tell me what level of vaccum to use on the vaccum atop a t-5 WC? This is a 95 z-28 Camaro tranny, hooked up to a Rover 3.5 with Holly 390 4bbl.  Trying to use throttle body vac, same as PVC vac, but afraid I'll rob the engine of vac.  If I use that vaccum, do I need a pvc type one way valve?  No clue here. Thanks.

That's a new one for me. I've never heard of running vacuum to a manual transmission. They have vents to allow for excess pressure from heat to escape, but no air intakes so I'd think if you applied vacuum to the case the seals for the input shaft and tail shaft would be sucked in and probably start leaking. I have a T5 from a '87 V6 car in my Midget and it didn't have any sort of vacuum fittings either in the Camaro I took it out of or on the transmission case itself. Did the later cars have some type of gear blockout such as the T56 six speed did that was vacuum controlled?

No such thing as vacuum on a T5.

Also, no such thing as a 1995 T5 in a Z-28. The Z-28 would have been an earlier car AND/OR a V8 powered car. The V6 T5 which would be the wide space gearing would be the only T5 available from (in 1995) either a 3.4L 60 degree V6 or a 3.8L 90 degree V6.

Long short, if its a Manual gearbox, it does not need vacuum.

There are 2 types of vents that have been used on a T5. The old style is a white plastic short tube with a snap on cover.
The newer style has a short lengh of hose to the top of the tranny to the vent fitting. Do not run that hose to engine vacuum!
Just make sure its clean and clear for proper venting.
