I realised that I needed to finish this off before I start making a totally new wiring loom. Tomorrow I will polish up the grotty looking stick welds, although I have a MIG welder I didn't have stainless wire but I had plenty of welding rods left over from years ago. I also had a piece of 1/8" 304 grade stainless steel. I have posted the first photo before but it shows how I opened up the bulkhead.
The second photo shows the Land Rover Discovery heater matrix fitted in the plenum, its a tight fit. There are two of this type available, this is the shallower version by about 3/8", the taller version will not fit. The next photo shows the evaporator fitted tight against the bulkhead and the transverse square tube, the evaporator is from a European Ford Fiesta. Both the heater matrix and the evaporator can be removed without having to remove the evaporator box.
The final photo shows the front cover fitted to the evaporator box, you can see the demister tubes connected and another tube on the right of the box that will take air to the right hand end of the dashboard. A similar tube will be fitted for a vent on the left hand end of the dashboard. There is another tube on the lower right  hand side of the box to supply air to the footwell, a similar tube will be fitted on the right hand side. There is a flap to close off the demisters operated by a lever.
I will fit two vents into the centre console when that gets finished. Manually shutting off the vents will boost the airflow out of the demisters.
