Picking up a 77 MGB this week that I am going to be fitting with a Ford 302 and a T5 . Following that I will do a chrome bumper conversion. Also going to lower the car.

I have already spoken with Pete Mantell and will be using one of his kits for the engine swap . What a nice guy , took a lot of time on the phone with me to explain the process and emailed me a bunch of reference material .
People like him are why I enjoy this hobby so much.

Now my question , this car has a very nice running engine that according to the seller has been rebuilt in the past 4000 miles. It also has an overdrive transmission .

I have a friend that is interested in both the engine and transmission . What would be a fair price for both ? We're talking crank pulley to tailshaft and everything in between .

Appreciate any input.

I have the engine and transmission sold on a handshake deal.

Next questions , is there a "Stow Away Top" available for a 1977 MGB ?

And has anyone used an aftermarket kit to rewire their MGB vs stock type replacement wiring ?
Since I am using a non stock engine and gauges I'm thinking that the universal kit should work just as well .

Any thoughts appreciated

With the correct frame, you can use any of the three tops.

Any chance you were in the J. Geils Band?  I loved their bluesier numbers.

Funny you should mention that .
I grew up in Greenwich CT and while I am not That Peter Wolff the J. Geils Band did play in the student center of my high school in the early 70's before they hit it big .

So what is the correct frame for a 77 with a Stow Away top ?

Also I tripped over Advance Auto Wire while searching around the web . They make a kit specifically for the conversion that I am doing and although it's expensive it seems like the perfect option for me .

I believe all the stowaway frames are the same.

There is a scissors frame, stowaway/packaway frame, & the Micholetti frame.  They will all fit any year MGB.  They do require the correct top for each.

What is the name of the company that sells the frames and tops ?

Is that a Moss item ?

Robbins, Prestige, Coventry & maybe more are manufacturers.  They can be purchased thru Moss or at a discount thru Moss resellers at a discount. Buying during Moss sales via Little British Car Co. will save some bucks.

I think Rimmer Bros. in the UK still sells some frames.

Thank you for that information.
