Has anyone converted a Rover 3.5 or 3.9 to a front sump oil pan?  Considering one in a Pinto street car project.

Consider using a 4.0/4.6.  Would be a piece o' cake.

I've got a 4.0 short block in the garage, do you think the rear sump on that pan is small enough?

MGBV8

Don't know.  Were you planning to fashion a modded pan with a front sump?  I was referring to the fact that the 4.0/4.6 oil pick up already bolts in the front part of the block vs the older engines that bolt in the middle of the block.

Ah, that clears it up. I don't want to cut the firewall, so a custom pan is required. Yes, the 4.0 block with the front mounted oil pickup would be the smart move.

Thanks!
